Alexander Brusencev is a Frankfurt-based recording engineer and producer specializing in classical and opera, with a distinctive background that bridges multiple genres. Over the past decade he has collaborated with international artists ranging from Latin GRAMMY® winner Alexander Abreu (Cuba) to Ukrainian pianist Viktoriya Yermolyeva and British blues and rock acts Robert J. Hunter and Tarq Bowen.
In the classical field, Brusencev has worked extensively with Washington, D.C.–based ensemble The Thirteen, producing projects as varied as Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 and the contemporary oratorio The Outer Edge of Youth. He has also produced albums with GRAMMY®-winning cellist Arlen Hlusko (Nineteen Movements for Unaccompanied Cello by American composer Scott Ordway), soprano Julia Dawson with pianist Anna Naretto (Girl in the Snow), and cellist Susanna Mendlow, a versatile performer with credits from Carnegie Hall to collaborations with Sigur Rós (Travels with Cello, Acis Productions). Girl in the Snow went on to receive Opus Klassik nominations for both “Composer of the Year” and “Singer of the Year.” His recent collaborators also include Matthias Vogt, the Frankfurt-based jazz pianist and producer known for integrating jazz, electronic, and improvisatory traditions.
Brusencev works across Europe and North America and is increasingly in demand for projects that cross boundaries between classical, contemporary, and popular music.
